It’s been hard to make Theatre during the pandemic, which is why last year I helped Burnt Thicket Theatre launch our first Audio Drama Podcast, Tied in Knots - burntthicket.com/show/tied… It was fun to make and we learned a lot, it’s why we thought we could make another podcast, which we did, and it’s called We Treaty People. The We Treaty People Podcast is one of the ways that we as a theatre company are leaning into the Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Call To Action #83, which encourages “Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists to undertake collaborative projects and produce works that contribute to the reconciliation process.” The process of making this podcast, the people involved, and the stories we’re telling, all of it has been really wonderful. So I’m very glad that we are beginning to share the fruit of our labour with a broader audience.
I encourage everyone to give these stories a listen, even if you’re not usually a podcast person. I hope these stories open up space for new conversations and new imagination for what reconciliation can look like on this land we all call home.
Please give it a listen and subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts or check it our on our website - burntthicket.com/show/we-t…
